Hi Everyone,

I am preparing Homework 3 for release and I wanted to give everyone a heads up about installing Spin.

The heads up is: DO IT NOW

How I installed Spin:

Save yourself some pain and use Linux. Spin claims that it can be used on Windows, but I just tried for multiple days to get it to run and it just made me sad 🙁

I have no idea if it works similar on Mac

Using Oracle VM Virtual Box Manager https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

Install Ubuntu https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop

You don't have to use Ubuntu, but that's the only thing I've verified that this works on so far.

Go to the github for Spin https://github.com/nimble-code/Spin
Clone the Spin repo onto your Desktop

I had a hard time with one of my firewalls and had to uninstall Ubuntu and reinstall it (Not sure if that helped, maybe changing wifi locations...)

cd into spin
use the “make” command

If literally nothing breaks, this should be the general flow. However, I encourage you to try installing Spin ASAP because we know how often everything works perfectly with computers.

Afterwords, you can go to spinroot.com and check out the instructions and play around with it if you're so inclined.
